Government's Irony Buffers at 87%, May Overload

With the government shutdown continuing, political analysts have grown concerned that the irony buffers, essential to keep the basic infrastructure operating, may fail before a resolution is reached.

The problem arises from problems on both sides. The GOP claims that they're fighting for the people's right to keep their fair share, though all the while this fight goes on hundreds of thousands of people can not work or get paid. The White House refuses to deny many people the healthcare that the Affordable Care Act will bring, despite the fact that in many states the poor still won't be offered care after it goes into effect. The smaller ironies, such as setting up barricades and posting guards around open-air parks because the shutdown deems them closed, also put strain on the buffer system.

"The government has built-in protections to help it tolerate extreme levels of irony," said infrastructure integrity containment specialist, Gerry Stockwell. "But this situation is making a lot of us worried."
